BREAKING NEWS: Woman Who 'Detests' Greens Reveals She's Been Craving Salad Lately
It all began when her husband took her at a nearby Texas Roadhouse about half a year ago.
A 31-year-old woman known for detesting greens has admitted that she has been having salad cravings these past few months.
Mina Deocareza, a resident of Legaspi Village in Makati City, told reporters during a press briefing on Sunday evening that it all began when her husband took her at a nearby Texas Roadhouse about half a year ago.
“For some reason, I wasn’t in the mood for anything heavy at the time, and I thought that maybe, I could just have a salad,” she said. “I looked at the menu and saw Caesar salad. I thought it looked good, so I ordered it.”
Deocareza thinks her decision may have been influenced by the amount of cheese sprinkled on the restaurant’s take on the popular salad dish, as pictured on the menu.
“It didn’t appear intimidating at all because of the cheese,” she said. “I also ordered some grilled chicken to go with it, just to be sure. And when it was finally served, I dug in right away. I finished it, eventually. It was really good!”
According to Deocareza, she started craving salad only days after that “initial exposure.”
“I think it was a week after that initial exposure when I started thinking, ‘Wait, I think I want some Caesar salad!’ Of course, I freaked out!” she recalled. “As in, the idea just popped into my head while I was doom-scrolling on Facebook. Imagine, a woman who proudly tells her friends how much she detests greens is suddenly craving some salad!”
“I couldn’t even tell my friends about my craving because I was scared of being called a hypocrite,” she continued. “I mean, I was just making fun of salad fanatics some years ago. I even shared that 2017 BuzzFeed video saying nobody really liked kale.”
Titled “Salad for People Who Fucking Hate Salad,” the video she was referring to shows actress Kelsey Darragh angrily preparing a salad. “I fucking hate salad,” she declares before telling viewers, “And if you love salad, good for fucking you. This is not your video.”
Despite being in a state of shock, however, Deocareza still gave in to her craving.
“Yeah, I just said, ‘Fuck it! I’m gonna have a salad!” she shared. “Thankfully, my husband was receptive to the idea. He’s a meat lover, but I think he respects my decision. He even went to the restaurant with me that day.”
When asked by reporters if she would continue entertaining her salad cravings, Deocareza answered, “Hell yeah! Sure, I said a lot of nasty things about salad eaters in the past, even calling them ‘goats’ who eat grass, but I’m aware that at this point in my life, any idea that could help improve my eating habits will be welcomed.”
“And to be clear, I have always been aware of how beneficial greens really are,” she told reporters. “It’s just that I grew up in a household where eating greens were not a thing.”
Deocareza then acknowledged that the kind of salad she’s currently fond of isn’t really healthy, especially considering the amount of cheese included in each serving of it and the ingredients used in preparing its dressing. However, she believes it’s still “a great start.”
“As I mentioned earlier, any idea that could help improve my eating habits will be welcomed,” she explained. “So the fact that I’m now slowly developing an appreciation for greens, I think it’s a good thing. Who knows, maybe I’ll try exploring other types of salad that are healthier later on.”
“But for now, I think I’ll just enjoy my favorite Caesar salad in all its cheesy glory,” she concluded. “What matters is that I’m actually consuming greens now.”
